Welcome to the Staunton Youth Council website! 

 

SYC is made up of student volunteers who fundraise for the benefit of their community, as well as national organizations, such as the National MS Society.  To learn more, please see our About Us page.

 

2009 was SYC's first full year under their new sponsor. It was one of the most busy and productive years we have seen! SYC members volunteered to help with the Bike Trail Committee, the Masons, and picking up trash. Our members raised funds for Adopt A Pet, Staunton Public Library, MS Society, Staunton Food Pantry and purchased gifts for the Adopt a Family Program. SYC sponsored several fundraisers including Walk N Wag, Trivia Night, Book Drive and Pumpkin Patch Day.

 

Staunton Youth Council was honored to receive recognition by Mayor John Willmon commending SYC for their dedication to community service!

 

Although 2009 was an awesome year, SYC is bound and determined to make 2010 bigger and better! The organization is going to continuously improve, making last years events even better and adding new ones to their agenda! We hope the community will continue to support SYC's efforts at all of this years events! 

 

This summer, SYC is holding several fundraisers to raise money to buy sixteen large flower pots to go along Staunton Main Street. These flower pots are a request of the city council and will look great on our newly paved Main Street this summer! We will also be raising some basic funds to go towards rewarding scholarships and donating to other community organizations. There will be a large amount of volunteer work taking place - if you need the organization's assistance, please don't hesitate to contact us!

  • Walk N Wag. Saturday, July 24th 10:30am Registration, 11am Walk. Bike Trail Park at Sixth Street. SYC will be holding the 2nd Annual Walk N Wag, with a lot of improvements in store for 2010, including on-site grooming, a veterinarian, a dog trainer and show, a pet obstacle course and a free pet photo!   • Car Wash. Sunday, August 1, 2010. Noon - 4pm. Ace Hardware. SYC will be holding their annual fundraiser. Donations only and all proceeds will go towards flower pots for Staunton Main Street.

  • Red Cross Blood Drive. Wednesday, September 1, 2010. 3pm-7pm. Masonic Lodge. Donors are in a huge demand! Donate blood and help save a life! 

  • SYC Recruitment Day. Sunday, September 12, 2010. 4pm-6pm. Masonic Lodge. This is the perfect opportunity for incoming freshman and other high schoolers to get introduced to SYC! Our recruitment day is a fun day filled with scavenger hunts and snacks. The kids will gain information about SYC and a meeting will take place at 6pm, if they'd like to join the organization. Hope to see you there!

  • Pumpkin Patch Day. Sunday, October 17th, 2010. 10am-6pm. Rhode's Family Farm. SYC will once again be working at Rhode's Family Farm this fall. Come out and join us for a fun day at an amazing pumpkin patch!
